How to Get Here

Hanmer Springs is in the central South Island of New Zealand approximately 1½ hours drive north of Christchurch.

• From Christchurch - drive north on State Highway 1 through Amberley.  At Waipara turn left onto Highway 7 and continue through Waikari and Culverden to the Hanmer turnoff (Highway 7A). The Hanmer Connection bus departs daily from outside the Christchurch Information Centre in Cathedral Square. Ph 0800 242 663
• From Picton & Blenheim - travel south on State Highway 1 to Kaikoura. South of Kaikoura turn onto Highway 70 traveling through Waiau and Rotherham. At the junction with State Highway 7 turn right.  Continue on to the Hanmer turnoff (Highway 7A).
• From West Coast - (Greymouth, Westport, Hokitika, Franz Joseph, Fox Glacier) travel through Springs Junction and the Lewis Pass to the Hanmer turnoff (Highway 7A).
• From Nelson travel south on Highway 6 to Murchison, then on to Springs Junction. Continue through the Lewis Pass to the Hanmer turnoff (Highway 7A).
